The Concept Plan

The Concept Plan maps out Singapore’s strategic land use and transportation plan plan for the next 40 to 50 years. It is based on a population scenario of 5.5 – 6 million. It is reviewed every 10 years. This long-term plan ensures there is sufficient land to meet anticipated population and economic growth, and to provide a good quality living environment. It takes an integrated approach, taking into account all major land use needs, considering all trade-offs and balancing future needs. The Concept Plan comprehensively looks at all land use needs such as housing, businesses, transport, infrastructure, recreation, and community needs. This also ensures that future development balances economic growth with environmental stewardship and social progress.
