Please kind Sirs, do listen to me,
I’ve got some questions and some simple pleas
You govern the land saying everything’s as it should,
but somehow, somewhere, things aren’t all good

Please kind Sirs, remember 1965,
Our citizens then helped to stay and fight.
They built a nation, with blood sweat and tears.
But why can’t they retire after so many long years?

Please kind Sirs, you say GDP’s rising,
that our prospects are better, that our economies enticing.
But why does Gini seem to point the other way?
Why are are our poor still getting the same pay?

Please kind Sirs, how about upgrading plans?
You say that your voters should have the upper hand?
Who provides the funds? The people or you?
Aren’t opposition supporters Singaporeans too?

Please kind Sirs, stop the poverty trap.
Not everyone here earns three million in a snap.
We need more htan a handshake and a smile,
or a cash doleout every once in a while.

Please kind Sirs, you ask for more kids,
but it’s hard with costs as it currently is.
Housing’s going up, not everyone can take loans
How do we have large families without our own homes?

Please kind Sirs, I’m begging on my knees,
Transport costs burden low income families.
Higher public bus fares make lives tougher.
Can’t transport companies make fat profits from others?

Please kind Sirs, you say foreigners are a must.
That they boost our economy, that they help us.
But my job was taken just the other day,
By a foreign worker for about half my pay.

So please kind Sirs, I know you’re ‘the best’,
Perhaps you can listen to my sentiments at last.
If not I think you’ll leave us no choice,
because I know the opposition will be our voice.
