Guide to Buying a New Vehicle

All purchases of new cars are governed by the terms and conditions contained in the Sales Contract.  It is important that you familarise yourself with the terms and conditions contained in the Sales Contract. Signing the contract indicates that you agree to the terms and conditions. Listed below are some of the important items that you should look out for.

  1. Description of Model (it should contain a description of the car you are buying). Important details include:
    • model name
    • engine capacity
    • year of manufacture
  2. Colour (be sure that it indicates the colour you want)
  3. Accessories & Options (it should list all accessories and options included in the purchase price)
  4. Price (you should know what you are paying for! Confirm what are the items included). For example, check whether it includes items such as:
    • Certificate of Entitlement (COE)
    • Road Tax
    • Insurance, if any
  5. Deposit Amount (i.e. what is the deposit payable upon signing?)
  6. Payment Terms (i.e. when are you expected to make subsequent payments, if any?)
  7. Delivery Period (i.e when is the car expected to be delivered to you?)
  8. Warranty/Service Packages (i.e what is the warranty period. Does the purchase price include any service packages?)

*Signing the contract indicates that you agree to the terms and conditions.*
